Truly a vanguard project. We took a vacant, rotting hulk of an Art Deco style office building, in a totally unproven residential rental market, and brought it back to life as the best new apartment building Newark has ever seen.
This was not a project for the faint of heart. We completely gutted the building, corrected decades of neglect and deterioration, and built it all out new. The apartment layouts are unique, with ten foot ceilings and first class finishes. We also pioneered today’s amenity-rich rental buildings and set a new standard: the building boasts a restored historic lobby, beautifully finished residents’ lounge, spa-quality health club, and a four lane bowling alley, to name just a few.
Eleven80 leased up strongly as soon as it opened, quieting all those who doubted the market. Eleven80 went on to win ULI National and New Jersey Project of the Year, the New Jersey Smart Growth Award, and many more. Eleven80 led the redevelopment of downtown Newark. Everyone else followed.
